If you suspect you have any form of gum disease, please contact Aria Periodontics & Implant Group as soon as possible. Gum disease can cause tooth decay, tooth loss, receding gums and infection, and has been connected to a whole host of health issues such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes and breast cancer.
Signs of Gum Disease
Some of the most common signs of gum disease include gums that are pinkish-red in appearance, bleeding gums after flossing or brushing, the presence of pus, the presence of bad breath, loose teeth and toothaches. If you are experiencing any of these signs, please book an appointment at Aria Periodontics & Implant Group as soon as possible.
Periodontal disease, once diagnosed by our team of specialist dentists, may be treated through a combination of surgical and non-surgical treatments, which can include scaling, root planing, laser treatments, antibiotics, gum flap surgery and bone grafting.
Stages of Gum Disease
In its initial stage, gum disease is known as gingivitis. Your gums are generally tender, sore and tend to bleed after brushing or flossing. Periodontitis is the secondary stage of gum disease, where plaque begins to harder into tartar (calculus) and your gums begin to recede. Advanced periodontitis shows moderate to severe bone loss and loose/missing teeth.
If you suspect you have gum disease or if you would like to work with Aria Periodontics & Implant Group to prevent gum disease, please book your appointment as soon as possible.
